Maggie's Motivation - An Interview to Inspire You
Yes.Fit has come across some amazing people who have changed their life around, by making health and fitness a priority. Here's an interview that we hope will inspire you to get off that couch and supercharge your wellness journey!
What is your name?
Maggie
When did you start your fitness journey?
Although I have exercised most of my adult life, in 2018, I kicked exercise up a couple of notches because what I had done in the past no longer worked, especially since retiring.
What have been your greatest achievements? (weight loss, getting stronger)
I've been a walker all my life. In basic training, when running the final mile was required, I almost didn't make it. I'd rather walk 10. Recently, however, I've upgraded power-walking to jogging. I can jog 2 miles in 30 minutes - and I actually enjoy it!
What motivated you to start using Yes.Fit?
My daughter, Bridget, had been using Yes.Fit for about a year when she inspired me to join the community. She's amazing!
How do you stay motivated?
While staying motivated is difficult, it is something that you have to talk to yourself about every day. When I get up in the morning, I have to decide to eat well, do some workout or exercise. A healthy lifestyle isn't something that happens. It must be embraced. That doesn't mean I don't fall off the wagon occasionally (coffee ice cream is a weakness). Knowing that I'll continue with the journey after I give in and that I'll lose a week of weight loss is very motivational.
What are your current short and long term goals?
Long-term goals are for the young. I only have one goal: Achieving a healthy, independent lifestyle.
Is there any other information you would like to tell us?
Yes.Fit has helped me get on track with my health. I’ve been using Fitbit for years, but Yes.Fit has focused me in the direction of exercise. Partnering that with eating right, I’ve lost weight and my doctor says pulse, blood pressure, O2 exchange are amazing for my age.
